Applewild School Opens New State-of-the-Art Dormitory for Middle School Students

FITCHBURG, MA, January 14, 2025 - Applewild School proudly unveils its brand-new, state-of-the-art dormitory for middle school students, a remarkable milestone in the school’s history of providing a transformative educational experience to students from near, and far. As part of the historic Applewild Forever Capital Campaign, this transformative achievement underscores Applewild’s dedication to creating a vibrant, inclusive, and world-class environment for students in grades 4 through 9. The campaign is a bold initiative to secure the resources necessary for Applewild to thrive and deliver on its mission for generations to come.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony welcomed Will Aubuchon, President of the Board of Trustees, Fitchburg Mayor Sam Squailia, members of Applewild’s Board of Trustees, local officials, project partners, the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce, and the Applewild community. Guests celebrated the culmination of a vision that began with the groundbreaking on January 8, 2024, made possible through the collaboration of MassDevelopment, Enterprise Bank, Lincoln Architects, CSL Consulting, and Bennett Building Corp.

The new 17,000 sq. ft. facility is designed to house 40 boarding students and six faculty families. By creating a vibrant residential environment, Applewild enhances its ability to attract talented students from around the world and across the United States.

"The completion of this dormitory represents Applewild’s unwavering dedication to our students” said Amy Jolly, Head of School. “This facility fosters a unique blend of independence, connection, and opportunity, ensuring students thrive in and beyond their Applewild experience.”

The building’s modern design, which emphasizes safety and comfort, supports the well-being of students while encouraging collaboration and community. With this addition, Applewild fulfills its mission to create a dynamic educational experience, where day and boarding students prepare for success at the nation’s most selective secondary schools.

Will Aubuchon, Applewild alumnus and President of the Board of Trustees, stated: "As an Applewild alumnus and parent, it’s inspiring to see this project come to life, marking a significant milestone in the Applewild Forever Capital Campaign and reflecting the school’s vision for growth and innovation". Walter Bennett, past parent, Trustee, and owner of Bennett Building Corporation, added: "Being part of this project has been a tremendous honor. This dormitory is more than just a building - it’s a symbol of Applewild’s dedication to its students and the greater community. It’s a space where students will find support, friendship, and the foundation for their future success. I’m proud that Bennett Building Corporation could contribute to a project that reflects such a deep commitment to education and the growth of Fitchburg as a whole."

The dormitory’s completion is a major component of the ambitious Applewild Forever Campaign, designed to elevate the school’s facilities and programs through a series of projects. The next significant campus transformation, currently underway, is the construction of the 50.000 sq.ft. Athletics & Wellness Center.
